Essentially, a suspended ceiling is a sub-ceiling that's suspended from a structural floor slab above, creating a void between the two.
A suspended ceiling is generally fitted by fixing brackets to the above floor slab, to which interlocking metal sections forming a grid are attached to lengths of steel cable. The tiles are then placed within the grid.
Typically, there's a minimum of a 100mm drop between the floor slab and suspended ceiling grid, which allows for lighting, speakers, air conditioning, CCTV, sprinklers and fire, smoke & motion detectors to all be fitted to the ceiling.
Most commonly, tiles are either 600mm x 600mm or 600mm x 1200mm, but we can supply a range of other sizes should you require them.
In many cases, suspended ceilings are fitted in buildings with high ceilings or with partitioning systems.
